San Francisco CA - July 30th, 2025 - At The Warfield in SF, singer-songwriter d4vd held the very first show of his Withered Tour. The set was an array of white colored roses dusted among elevated platforms of instruments. Reminiscent of a funeral scene, it’s a call to d4vd’s albums “Petals to Thorns” and “Withered” both botanical-themed titles. Just like the flowers on stage, the venue’s energy began to build with anticipation once showtime had hit..

The opener was Bryant Barnes, another R&B/soul artist who also initially gained traction due to his low melodic register. Navigating through his vocal timbre and melancholic instrumental, and taking us through his songs like “I’d Rather Pretend” and “I Want You,” Bryant Barnes sets the stage for d4vd as the main headliner

Sporting a violently pink Hello Kitty hoodie, distressed jeans, and a grand total of three Labubus attached to his waistline, despite the monochrome stage, The Warfield was filled with different colored energies. From getting audiences to jump to playing music that induces reminiscence from a loved one, the show was filled with a good balance of ballad and bounce, allowing each song to shine from the one before it. From the energetic, lively “Feel It” featured in the show “Invincible” to the intimate ballad “Always Love” or “Here With Me, “ d4vd rooted audiences with his musical range and melodies made in BandCamp.

Despite the aspiration for many to have an innocent and simple love, d4vd’s music encompasses the difficulty of one to attain that love, forcing audiences to realize the small intricacies that come with the inconsistencies and inconveniences of being with another. His music serves as a reminder that love holds nuance past the acts of kindness and intimacy, representing more than what’s tangible or emotional, but the essence contained “In the Middle.”
